Wondering what to do?

Have you just arrived in Port Elizabeth and don’t know what there is to discover?  Or maybe you have lived here for quite some time and still haven’t taken the time out to explore what there is to do.

Jeffreys Bay
Only 45min from Port Elizabeth

Jeffreys Bay is world renowned for its sea shells. Shells can be found all along the beaches in town but seem more predominant in certain areas.  The best places to look are along the section of beaches that are covered by rock like the Surfers Point area.  Most shells wash up during neap tides, but one can find shells just about all year round.

Its easy to put together a shell collection.  The huge variety of shells means that you can collect whatever shells catch your eye. The ever popular cowry shell can be found in abundance by shell collectors on our beaches and a wide variety makes for exciting collecting.  Check out the tide table and put some sun block on your face and start collecting!

Exploring J’Bay on mountain bikes is a novel way of getting around town.  One can either rent bikes and check out the area by yourself or book a trip.  There are some exciting places to visit.  The waterfall, just outside of town is a classic trip.  Cycling through the natural vegetation called fynbos puts one in the mood for a swim in the inviting waterfall pool.  There is a waterslide as well as a cliff jump for the more adventurous.

For the adrenaline junkies, a cycle through a game farm is a must.  Here one will see the feared rhino in its natural habitat as well as other game.  Only guided tours are available.

Learning to surf is a must for visitors and locals alike.  Main Beach is a perfect beach for beginners of all ages to ride waves.  It is a safe swimming and surfing beach as there are no major currents and the entire beach is covered with sand.  One even has a good chance to see dolphins riding the same waves as you.

The Jeffreys Bay Info Office is a good place to start.  All relevant information about the town is available. The Info Office is in Da Gama Road, between Boneyards and the Billabong Shop.
